Amey Consulting – Principal Civil Engineer
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Principal Engineer to join our Consulting Highways Team in our newly opened office in Newcastle.
The standard hours of work are 40 hours per week, but we offer a range of flexible working practices, including hybrid, part-time and flexible working patterns. With our network of offices across the UK and now Ireland, we are open to discussing working options that match your needs, with the flexibility to change how you work as your life evolves.
Based in our newly opened Newcastle office, you’ll join a growing team supporting a diverse portfolio of major infrastructure projects across both Scotland and England. From designing and improving critical trunk roads, bridges and transportation networks across Scotland, to contributing to National Highways’ £3.6bn Scheme Delivery Framework, you’ll be involved in projects that make a real difference to communities and economies across the UK. With opportunities to work on long-term asset management programmes alongside major design and construction schemes, this role offers exposure to some of the most exciting and challenging highways projects in the industry.

As a Principal Engineer you will provide effective support and assistance to your Design Team Leader on a variety of highways schemes whilst taking the lead on projects and mentoring junior designers. Responsibilities include:
