Senior IT Infrastructure Operations Engineer

Location: Dartford with travel when required

Key responsibilities:

  • Technical fault finding and network incident management
  • Supporting IT colleagues with resolving a mixture of 2nd and 3rd line tickets and acting as a final point for resolving escalations from our Network Operations team
  • Ensure resolutions are fit for purpose and implemented in a safe and controlled manner
  • CMDB, documentation and operational procedures are kept up to date and accurate
  • Communicate with the team to identify needs, monitoring performance, and troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues with network and systems
  • ITSM process knowledge such as incident and change management
  • Analyse incidents & problems registered by the IT Team to ensure future product releases incorporate appropriate response to those incidents and problems

  • Internal DNS
  • External DNS
  • AD sites & services
  • TCP/IP including IP addressing, routing & bridging
  • VLANs

Desirable skills and experience

  • IP Telephony / Video Conferencing
  • Solarwinds
  • SDWAN
  • Service Now (ITSM)

Typical skills and Qualifications required

  • 5 years’ of experience with network infrastructure and hardware
  • Proficiency with infrastructure devices, including switches, routers, wireless access points, controllers, and firewalls
  • Experience in monitoring, and repairing local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN)
  • Manage multiple work streams and priorities to ensure smooth transition into an operational environment

The Senior IT Infrastructure Operations Engineer plays a key role in our IT function. You will work with Project teams, Infrastructure engineering teams, ITSM Service Managers and all other operational IT teams. Support and build better networks to enable Laing O’Rourke to build better futures for everyone.
