BuildForce November 2025 Blog

Our November 2025 BuildForce Blog comes from our Senior Support Manager Kathleen Cargill.
“As any military family will tell you, moving house becomes part of the lifestyle. You get used to the boxes, the goodbyes, and the fresh starts. But no matter how many times you’ve done it, each move still feels like its own adventure.
Our latest move was our 7th, and this one has taken us all the way to the Middle East for my husband’s next posting. It is our biggest move yet which came with its own unique challenges. Settling the children into a new school, with a new language to learn and 45 degree heat to contend with, really tested our resilience. Yet it’s also been exciting to experience a completely different climate and culture together as a family.
Through all that change, I’ve realised how much these experiences shape us. They teach flexibility, patience, and the importance of keeping a sense of humour when things don’t go to plan! Returning to BuildForce has brought that sense of purpose and normality back, and it’s reminded me how important it is to have something steady to anchor you during times of change.
That feeling of transition and finding your footing again is one I know feels very familiar to the Service Leavers, Veterans and Families we support at BuildForce. Just like a house move, it can feel daunting at first, but it’s also full of opportunity. Every challenge faced and overcome builds the same resilience that will serve you well in the construction industry.
If you are thinking about your next move, I’d encourage you to connect with BuildForce. We’re here to support your transition, to help you recognise the skills you already have, and to guide you towards a new chapter where you can continue to thrive.”
