BuildForce was delighted to welcome our industry employers to the British Army Inter Corps Boxing Final: RLC v REME at St. Omer Barracks on 6 March 2025. With special thanks to Colonel Andrew Parker, Major Jamie Sumner, Captain Gareth Sumner, Lt Col Edward Bowman and 27 Regiment RLC, for hosting the incredible event. Also to our own Caroline Logan and Randa Thornton for their efforts of support in bringing the event together.
BuildForce, a not-for-profit organisation, is the original pioneer and the construction industry’s largest ex-military career service. Supporting thousands of our service leavers, veterans and spouses into long-term trade and professional careers, during resettlement and throughout their career in industry. Resettlement can be a life changing experience for our serving personnel and their families, BuildForce are here to support with a wraparound service every step of the way.
The purpose of the evenings event was twofold: continuing to strengthen engagement between the Armed Forces and the construction industry, and in highlighting the wellbeing benefits of sport.
BuildForce created our sports & wellbeing programme for our service leavers and industry employers to get to know each other outside of work. Partaking in sporting events from marathons, ultra challenges, country treks, rugby tournaments and everything in between, is a tremendous way to come together, improve fitness and build common ground.
The evenings boxing final is another great sporting event where our respective industries get to connect. We sought to promote an event, which epitomises the positive impacts on one’s body, health, and mind – boxing is intense and requires unfaltering effort. Preparation, discipline and skill is an integral part of that training. BuildForce were delighted to be involved in the competition and are incredibly proud to support the boxers. Their courage, commitment and hard work is a lesson and inspiration to us all. Each boxer has our deepest respect and admiration. They have worked incredibly hard to get to this point. Thank you to the coaches, the officials, the RLC Boxing Association and the Army Boxing Association.
The construction industry stands united in its support of our Armed Forces and BuildForce is honoured to play its part.
