Mobile Area Cleaning Manager

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent  Mobile Area Cleaning Manager to join our Northampton school’s account – This role is based on-site although you will need to hold UK driving licence to travel to your assigned schools.

The salary is dependent on experience.

The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week – Monday – Friday (flexible start and finish times dependent on requirements)

Amey manages facilities for 43 Northampton schools, ensuring safe, clean, and compliant learning environments for students and teachers. We deliver 24/7 services with minimal disruption, working in partnership to maintain high standards. 

The Cleaning Manager is responsible for coordinating and supervising all cleaning activities across the school sites to maintain a safe, hygienic, and welcoming learning environment.  The role ensures that all areas, classrooms, communal areas, toilets, sports facilities, and specialist spaces meet the contractual cleaning KPIs and compliance standards suitable for a school setting.

You will be responsible for:

• Oversee daily cleaning operations across the school sites within your remit.
• Develop cleaning schedules around school activities and timetables.
• Minimize complaints by ensuring service delivery in line with contractual cleaning KPIs.
• Ensure deep cleaning is completed during school holidays or when required, as per schedule agree with client.
• Respond promptly to urgent cleaning requests such as spillages or illness incidents.
• Supervise and support cleaning staff, including planning rotas and allocating duties.
• Manage staff performance in line with Amey HR policy and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with Amey’s COSHH, safeguarding and health & safety policies.
• Maintain cleaning materials, consumables, and equipment.
• Work collaboratively with Amey Operations Managers and Facilities Managers to ensure contractual compliance.

We want to hear from you if you have/are:

• Supervisory experience in cleaning, facilities, or site management.
• Strong knowledge of COSHH regulations and chemical safety.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to motivate and manage a team.
• Basic IT literacy for rotas, audits, and communication.
• Experience maintaining accurate training records and coordinating staff training programmes.
• Experience working in a school or educational environment.
• Health & safety training, such as IOSH.
• BICSc qualification.
• Experience managing deep cleans or term‑time staffing structures.
