Your New Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced People Partner to join our Transport Infrastructure People Team. This is a full-time, permanent role offering flexible remote or hybrid working, with regular travel across England.

Transport Infrastructure sits at the heart of how the UK moves. We design, maintain and improve vital road, rail and public-space networks, supporting safer journeys, stronger connections and more sustainable communities. From major highways and street-lighting programmes to complex rail projects for clients, our work makes a visible difference to everyday life across the country.

As People Partner, you will report to the People Director and work in close partnership with the Rail Business Director and senior leadership team. This is a varied, impactful generalist role, blending strategic people initiatives with hands-on operational support. You’ll lead organisational design and cultural change activity, manage complex employee relations cases, and use insight and data to shape people decisions and drive continuous improvement.

The role is based on 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

We believe great work starts with trust and flexibility. We support hybrid, part-time and flexible working patterns, empowering our people to balance their work and personal lives. With offices across the UK, we’re open to discussing working arrangements that work for you.

You will be responsible for:

You will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our people strategy. This includes:

  • Driving the people plan across talent development, resourcing, engagement, and organisational development, ensuring alignment with both business unit and corporate objectives.
  • Tracking and analysing key performance metrics, identifying trends, generating insight-driven recommendations, and implementing actions that drive meaningful improvement.
  • Building strong, constructive relationships with Trade Unions, ensuring effective collaboration and positive outcomes.
  • Partnering closely with Recruitment, L&D and Reward teams to design and embed initiatives that are fit for purpose and operationally impactful.
  • Coaching and supporting line managers to strengthen people leadership capability and elevate team performance.
  • Designing, delivering, and embedding change programmes from mobilisation to organisational restructuring to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Championing and embedding inclusion at the Business Unit level, ensuring diversity and equity are woven into everyday practices.

We want to hear from you if you are:

  • CIPD Level 5 qualified as a minimum, with Level 7 being highly desirable.
  • An experienced People Partner with a background in a similar sector and organisational scale.
  • Highly skilled in working with Trade Unions and confident navigating the full TUPE process.
  • Experienced in managing complex employee and industrial relations cases, with a strong track record of positive resolution.
  • Commercially minded, with the ability to balance people priorities with organisational goals and make sound, insightled decisions.
  • Structured and logical in your approach, capable of breaking down complex challenges and delivering clear, practical solutions.
  • A strategic thinker who has developed and implemented people initiatives that have genuinely improved business performance.
  • A proven change leader, able to deliver endtoend transformation projects with successful outcomes.
  • Experienced in people management, with the ability to motivate, guide and support others.
  • Positive, adaptable, and a collaborative team player who thrives in a dynamic environment.
